GRIEF SUPPORT

Why Aftercare is Important.

Losing a loved one is a very difficult time for all of us. After the services are over, we begin the transition to a life that's changed. Through the support and love from our family and friends and going through the mourning process, we reconcile our grief and the difficult times turn into wonderful memories of the love that was shared. As a service to the families served, we offer free professional grief education to learn more about the mourning process. We invite anyone who has suffered a loss to be a part of our Enter the Journey Program or you can meet privately with our professional Grief Educator, Sheila Kramer.

ABOUT SHEILA

Aftercare Programs

Enter the Journey

Sheila Kramer leads a 4 week educational program held in the spring and fall of the year. There is no cost to attend and is open to anyone who has suffered a loss and wants to learn more about grief and the feelings they are experiencing. Sessions will be held at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, NE in the spring of 2023. Sheila will lead the same program at our Yankton location in the fall of 2023.

Memorial Day Service & Open House

Our Memorial Day Service in the Garden of Memories Cemetery will be held at 10:00 AM at the entrance of the cemetery. The Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791 and American Legion will provide a 21-gun salute and play Taps to honor our fallen heroes. We will also be joined by the American Legion Auxiliary. We will read the names of the veterans buried in the Garden of Memories Cemetery within the last 15 years. Every year, we will also read those veterans who died in active duty. We are always grateful for the sacrifice of those remarkable men and women who fought for the freedoms we all enjoy today.

There will be an open house at our Hospitality Center from 9:00 to 11:00 AM where we will be serving juice, coffee, rolls and donuts. We would love for you to attend.

Remembrance Program

The Remembrance Program will be held at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home, 2901 Douglas Avenue in Yankton, SD and is tentatively set for Saturday, December 14, 2024.
