Zeta M. Boeckman

Zeta M. Boeckman, age 89, of Wynot, Nebraska, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot with the Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wynot. Visitation will be on Wednesday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, NE. Pallbearers will be grandsons Justin Boeckman, Chad Boeckman, Jason Felber, Broderick Diez, Derek Boeckman, and Kyle Boeckman. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Felber, Sheena Fehringer, Sarah Miller, Candace Trobaugh, Ryan Boeckman, Megan Bruning, Craig Boeckman, and Jody Boeckman. Zeta Marie Boeckman was born on July 4, 1928 in Newcastle, Nebraska to Henry and Carrie (Richards) Day. She grew up in Newcastle on the family farm. Zeta married Jerome Boeckman on August 23, 1949 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle. Twelve children were born to this union. Zeta loved crocheting and made beautiful doilies, afghans, and potholders. She also loved cooking, baking, and gardening. She fed calves for many years on the farm. Zeta belonged to Holy Family parish and the Catholic Daughters of America. Zeta is survived by her husband, Jerome; her ten children and spouses Janice (Perry) Sherman of Newcastle, Joyce (Al) Bittner of Lennox, SD, Richard (Donna) Boeckman of St. Helena, NE, Mick (Karen) Boeckman of Wynot, Chuck Boeckman of Wynot, Don (Angie) Boeckman of Wynot, LuAnn (Bob) Felber of Tabor, SD, Loren (Connie) Boeckman of Wynot, Pam Bruning and fiance Tony Kalin of Coleridge, Cathy (Dave) Diez of Gretna, NE; two sisters Betty Kneifl of Newcastle and Gert (Alphonse) Wiepen of St. Helena; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren. Zeta was preceded in death by her parents two daughters Romaine and MaryLou; sister Marjorie Pinkelman; two brothers Jerry Day and Fran Day; brothers-in-law Pat Kneifl and Leonard Pinkelman; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Joe & Sylvia Peitz; brothers-in-law Ralph, Jimmy, and Rudy Boeckman.
