Zachary Adam Barta, age 25, of Vermillion, South Dakota died from a tragic incident on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Memorial services are 2:00 PM, on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend Linda Jorgensen officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Sunday, August 11 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Zachary was born May 25, 1994 in Yankton, South Dakota to Brent and Sara (Horlyk) Barta. He grew up in Volin, South Dakota and graduated from Gayville-Volin High School in 2012. He then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion where he was working toward a degree in Computer Science. Zach was a kind, gentle soul who had a great smile and a heart of gold. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He loved computers, playing video games and pokemon. Zach also enjoyed playing football and loved Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed going out for dinner and was an excellent cook. He loved his family and treasured his daughter, Zoey. Zachary is survived by his parents, Brent and Sara Barta of Vermillion; daughter, Zoey Barta; brother, Trey Barta of Yankton; Zoey’s mother, Samantha Smith of Yankton; grandparents, Bob and Pam Barta of Gayville, SD; many aunts and uncles, Emily (Eric) Dimmer of Gayville, Heidi (Cregg) Getman of Beresford, Shelly (Paul) Jorgensen of Texas, Sherry (Mike) Haas of Beresford, Sam (Stu) Anderson of Yankton, Delrae (Steve) Wuebben of Gayville, Tabby Juttelstad of Gayville, Tammy Huether of Irene, Bill (Robin) Huether of Viborg and Tom Huether of Volin; and cousins and friends who loved him very much. Zachary was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale and Phyllis Horlyk; great grandmother, Margaret Schmidt; great grandparents, Robert and Vivian Barta; and cousin, Bryce Huether.
