Wayne Everett Vogle, age 84 of Coleridge, Nebraska died at his residence on Thursday, June 28, 2018. Funeral Services will be on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge with Rev. Russ Lambert officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Coleridge with military honors provided by the Laurel American Legion Post 54, the Coleridge American Legion Post 114 and the American Legion Riders. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 3:30 pm at the church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am on Monday at the church. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nieces, nephews and all of his coffee friends. Pallbearers will be Pat Guy, Robert Kalin, Stacey Kutil, Brandon Rathgeber, Roy Rathgeber and Gary Wiemers. Wayne was born on November 1, 1933 in Obert, Nebraska to Pat Wendell and Augusta Marie (Miller) Vogle. They lived in the Obert area until they moved north of Coleridge in 1943. Wayne attended country school and then attended Hartington High School, graduating in 1951. He farmed with his dad until he married Norma Jean Wiemers on April 19, 1954 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge. They farmed for 1 year, 8 miles north of Laurel when he was drafted into the Army serving from 1955 to 1957. After his discharge from the Army he farmed in the Laurel, Belden and Coleridge areas for 33 years. They moved into Coleridge in 2001 and he gradually retired. Wayne was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a Deacon for 6 years. He was a member of the Laurel American Legion Post 54 and was Commander for 9 years. He was the Cedar County American Legion Commander for 2 years. Wayne was a member of the Cedar County Feeders Association for 33 years, serving 7 years as President and 5 years as the Secretary/Treasurer. He was a member of the Nebraska Livestock Cattleman Feeders Association serving as an officer for 2 years. Wayne enjoyed helping his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed collecting jokes, everyday rocks and having coffee with friends. Wayne is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Vogle of Coleridge; a son, Charlie and Syndi Vogle of Coleridge; a daughter, Carol and Rod Benson of Coleridge; 6 grandchildren, Sarah and Jeff White, Zachary Vogle, Austin Vogle, Nicole Benson, Carrie Benson, Erica Benson, and a sister, Marjorie Guy of Hartington. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and their husbands, Audrey and Alvin Roth, Norman and Gloria Vogle and a brother-in-law, Raymond Guy.
