Vincent Rossiter Jr. age 82 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Hartington Care and Rehabilitation Center. Private Family Funeral Services will be on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. A public visitation will be on Wednesday, January 2, 2018 from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 6:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington. Pallbearers will be Casey Rossiter, Nathan Simpson, David Weddingfeld, James Weddingfeld, John Weddingfeld, Matt Weddingfeld, and Ray Weddingfeld. Vincent Emmett Rossiter Jr. was born on April 22, 1936 in Omaha, NE to Vincent Emmett and Rhea (Schmiedeskamp) Rossiter Sr. He grew up in Hartington and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1954. V.E. went to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and then graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1958. V.E. served in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon his honorable discharge he worked for various banks in Nebraska and Colorado before landing a job at the Federal Reserve Bank in Denver. While at the Federal Reserve Bank he met Joyce Mathies. They were married on April 4, 1969 in Las Vegas, NV. He then joined his father at the Bank of Hartington before accepting a position with a bank in Pueblo, Colorado. V.E. and Joyce returned to Hartington in 1978 where V. E. served as President of the Bank of Hartington. Upon leaving his position at the Bank of Hartington, V.E. worked at a bank in Gurnsey, WY. When he “retired” he worked at HTI and Kelly Inn in Yankton. V.E. held offices in the Nebraska Independent Bankers Association, was a former Holy Trinity Parish Council member and a member of the Hartington Chamber of Commerce. He served as president of the Library Board Foundation. V.E. was also on the Hartington Airport Board for several years and served as Chairman of the Northeast Nebraska United Way. V.E. is survived by his wife, Joyce of Hartington; three children and spouses Mickie & Chris Mueller of Norfolk, Sheila & Jeff Olsen of Hartington, Trey Rossiter of Colorado; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters Carol & Steve Sturek of Georgia, Mary Beth Rossiter of Georgia; brother Max and wife Roberta Rossiter of California. V.E. was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Greta Frantz, Phyllis Schrempp; brother Don Rossiter; grandson Jordan Rossiter.
