Victor H. Klug

Victor H. Klug, age 93 of Hartington, Nebraska and formerly of Crofton, died on Saturday, April 07, 2018 at the Hartington Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, Nebraska with the Rev. Timothy Podraza officiating. Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Crofton. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to services at church. Victor Herbert Klug was born on December 1, 1924 to Stephen and Rosina (Becker) Klug in St. Helena, Nebraska. He grew up in St. Helena and attended elementary school at St. Mary’s School. Victor and his brother moved to the Niobrara where they farmed together. He married Darlene R. Robinette on January 11, 1955 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Niobrara, NE. To this union five children were born – Monica, Vic Jr., Beth, Patty, and Robert. Vic retired from farming and then he and Darlene moved to Crofton. Vic then worked for Gurney’s Seed and Nursery in Yankton, SD for seven years. Due to health reasons, Vic entered the Hartington Rehabilitation and Care Center in 2011, where he resided until his death. While at the nursing home he enjoyed sitting outside watching the traffic go by and greeting the staff as they came and left the nursing home. Vic loved to torment the staff and was the Valentine King two different years, and resident of the month. Vic was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Monica & Tom Repenning of Niobrara, NE, Vic Klug Jr. of Clarkson, NE, Beth & Stan Holan of Hartington, Patty Klug of Niobrara, Robert Klug of Norfolk; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two sisters Irene & Francis Wortmann of Hartington, and Mildred Sternhagen of Tabor, SD; many nieces and nephews. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene (Robinette) Klug on October 5, 2009 at the age of 76 years; siblings Edward and wife Faye Klug, Roman Klug, Annamary Filips, Andy Klug; brother-in-law Allen Sternhagen; and grandson Brian Holan.
