Vicki Lynn Larsen, age 66, died at her home in Yankton, South Dakota.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend David Gunderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.
Vicki was born June 4, 1951 in Yankton, South Dakota to Duane and Bernice (Voll) Larsen. She grew up on a farm near Irene, SD and loved farming with her dad. She attended Cornbelt Country Grade School and was the Homecoming Queen for Irene High School, graduating in 1969. Vicki then obtained her LPN license from St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre, SD. She worked at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton until 1973 and then moved to Terre Haute, IN where she worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital. In 1977, Vicki moved back to Yankton and worked as a nurse at the Human Services Center for four years. She lived in Sioux Falls for seven years, working at Good Samaritan Society. During this time, Vicki received her RN license from Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, SD. In 1988, she began her 20 year career with Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton. She loved her time as a nurse and truly enjoyed helping the residents at the nursing home. Vicki finally worked for the Riverfront Event Center in Yankton for several years until an injury forced her to retire. Vicki enjoyed camping, reading, gardening and driving her Firebird car. She also loved the company of her cats and dogs and being with her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Vicki is survived by her mother, Bernice Larsen of Yankton; four siblings: Nancy Haas of Yankton, Kenny Larsen (Ellen) of St. Charles, SD, Lindy (Clif) Williams of Irene, SD and Terry Larsen (Phoebe Dirks) of Dakota City, NE; nieces and nephews: Mark and Paul Haas, Jeremy Larsen, Jessie Eliason, Jamie Hood and Josey Larsen, and Tonya Bohlke; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Vicki was preceded in death by her father, Duane Larsen; niece, Tammy Haas; and brother-in-law, Steve Haas.
