Sally Goetz

Sally Goetz, age 82, of Tyndall, South Dakota and formerly of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Monday, February 18, 2019 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Larry Regynski officiating. Burial will be at the Yankton Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Sally Lee Goetz was born March 7, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Louis and Leola (Lowell) Quinnell. Sally grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School. She then attended Yankton College for a short time. Sally worked as a proof reader for the Yankton Press and Dakotan, the Yankton Public Library, and then as a legal secretary for James Goetz. On September 29, 1975, Sally and James were married in Omaha, Nebraska. Sally loved crafts and was a member of the Yankton County Extension Club. She also loved animals and took in many rescue dogs and cats. Sally is survived by six step children: James T. (Lori) Goetz Jr. of Centennial, CO, Nancy (John) Corcoran of Sheldon, IA, Mary Sowards of Omaha, NE, Peggy (William) Conroy of Chapin, SC, Deborah (Dan) Beckmann of Omaha, and Bruce Goetz of Omaha; seven step grandchildren; two nieces, Cheryl (Mike) Lemon of Tyndall and Carrie Boe of Minnesota; nephew, Robert Hicks of Kansas; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Goetz on February 22, 2013; step son, Robert Goetz; two sisters, Renae Hicks and Betty Boe; and a great nephew, Michael Evans.
