Rosemary Orr

Rose Mary Orr “Rose” passed peacefully Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at home and with her daughters by her side. She was born June 18, 1945 to Harold and Mary (Robertson) Styles. Her family moved to Meckling, South Dakota from Draper when she was 14 and she married Duane Elwood Orr on June 25, 1963.

Rose was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. When her health still allowed her to do so, she enjoyed visiting isolated seniors, helping families in need and participating in prayer chains. She enjoyed her role as a dedicated “prayer warrior”. 

For fun, she loved playing games with family especially Rummikub, Yahtzee and UNO. She also jumped on opportunities to travel and have fun adventures with her loved ones. She especially liked long, relaxing drives around the Yankton Lewis & Clark Dam watching for wildlife. A few deer, turkeys or an eagle were sure to put a beautiful smile on her face! To keep her mind active, she enjoyed listening to toe tapping christian country music, reading, word finds, and her game shows. 

Survivors include her husband, Duane Elwood Orr; her two daughters, Melissa Rose Orr of Yankton, South Dakota and Jodi Marie (David) Crowley of Woburn, Massachusetts; her beloved Grandson, Brendan Crowley; and two brothers; Richard (Mary) Styles, and Danny (Pam) Styles, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Snow; and brothers: Lester, Donald, Carl, Paul, Orville, Gene, LeRoy and Eddie Styles.

Rose will not have a funeral or memorial service, as she did not want to be remembered in death. She preferred everyone remember her as she was while alive and to celebrate with her as she joins her loved ones and God in heaven.
