Ronald G. Wuebben, age 65, of Yankton, South Dakota, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, November 25, 2024, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton, South Dakota, with Reverend Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton with military honors provided by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be James Wuebben, Jessie Wuebben, Ben Wuebben, Ken Wuebben, Richard Wuebben, Linda Wuebben, Mary Amon, and Robert Amon. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, grandson, nieces and nephews.
Ronald G. Wuebben was born February 3, 1959, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Jerome and Audrey (Kleinschmit) Wuebben. He grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1978. He then joined the United States Army in 1981 and served in the Demilitarized Zone in Korea and also on Special Forces missions in Grenada. He returned to Yankton in 1985 and worked various jobs until finally settled working in janitorial for the Yankton School District.
Ron was stern military man, who was very proud of his service to his country. He enjoyed cooking, biking, and fishing both with rod and bow. He loved animals, especially his cats and parrot and was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan. He was a Cub Scout Den leader for a few years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a strong, protective, country man who enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with people. In his own way, he was very loving and kind and was very protective of the people he cared about.
Survivors include his three children: James (Michelle) Wuebben of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Shannon (Bryce) Lewis of Mission Hill, South Dakota; and Jennifer Wuebben of Yankton; eight grandchildren: T.J., Alesea, Cameron, Landen and Kaiden Lewis, Ian Bishop, Leigha Hangman, and Jessie Wuebben; one great grandson, Axil Lewis; four brothers and sisters: Linda Wuebben of Yankton; Kenneth (Randa) Wuebben of Yankton; Mary Jane (Robert) Amon of Yankton; and Richard (Ellyn) Wuebben of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jerome and Audrey Wuebben.
