Ronald Sudbeck age 87 of Fordyce, Nebraska died on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the Holmes Lake Rehab and Care Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordyce with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Fordyce. Visitation will be on Wednesday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Gerold Sudbeck, Dale Sudbeck; Daryl Sudbeck, Eric Klanderud, John Kleinschmit, and Kerry Dendinger.
Ronald George was born on April 16, 1937 in Ethan, South Dakota to Leo and Kathryn “Katie” (Wisner) Sudbeck. He grew up in the Bow Valley area and attended elementary school there. Ronnie began helping his father on the farm at a young age and continued to farm his entire life. Ronnie married Norma Jean Marie Kleinschmit on June 9, 1959 in Bow Valley, Nebraska. After their marriage they farmed and had a cattle and hog operation SW of Fordyce until he retired.
Ronnie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, and was a former parish council and West Catholic and Cedar Catholic High School board member, holding offices in both. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball for the Bow Valley, Hartington and Fordyce teams, and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma of Lincoln, three children and spouses Christie (Mark) Donnermeyer of Elkhorn, Kimberly (John) Davis of Raymond, Kelly (Kimberly) Sudbeck of Lincoln; four grandchildren Brenton and Peyton Davis, Greyeton and Lillian Sudbeck; two siblings Phyllis Larson of Torrance, CA, and Marlys (Larry) Klanderud of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Kathryn Sudbeck; sister Valerine Pautler; brother and best friend Donavin “Bud” Sudbeck; brothers-in-law Herbert Pautler and Axel “Bob” Larson; sister-in-law Henrietta Sudbeck; and nephews Gary Pautler and Wayne Larson.
