Ron Deuschle

Ron Deuschle, age 78, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, January 9, 2020, at his home in Yankton. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yankton with Reverend Larry Regynski officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton with military honors provided by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2020, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with a rosary at 6:45 PM and a Vigil service at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers are Steve Anderson, Jacob Huchtmeier, Bud Merkwan, Gary Pederson, Kevin Pederson, Ron Scott, Randy Smith and Bruce Viau. Ron Deuschle was born September 29, 1941 in Sioux City, Iowa to Delmar and Helen (Skov) Deuschle. He grew up in Yankton, South Dakota and graduated from Yankton High School. He joined the United States Air Force and became a jet fighter mechanic. He then worked for Rockwell International and helped build every Apollo Space Craft that went to the moon and back. He also worked on the SC4B missile for two years until he transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and built the first 15 left hand mid entree doors for the Boeing 747. He worked for the police department in Tulsa and also for the police department in Yankton, South Dakota, when he moved in 1969. He married Mary Lou Stewart on March 24, 1976 in Yankton. Ron worked as the assistant service manager at the Ford garage in Yankton for four years and then went to work at Gehl for the next 26 years spending most of that time as the National Service Manager. He then worked for Applied Engineering and as a Deputy Sherriff part time until his retirement in 2003. Ron was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Yankton. He loved to fish all summer at Platte Creek, camping, hunting, antique cars, motorcycles, boating, and traveling all over the world while working at Gehl’s. He was a wise cracker who had a great sense of humor, even though his illness, joking with the hospice nurses. He received wonderful care from the staff at Avera@Home and his family is very grateful for all of their amazing care and professionalism. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Deuschle of Yankton; four children: Cherie Lubbers of Omaha, Nebraska; Steve (Debbie) Deuschle of Yankton; Christine (Scott) McLeod of Bend, Oregon; and Michele Stewart of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight grandchildren: Tricia Anderson, Ashley Deuschle, Mae (Brent) Warner, Jacob (Tina) Huchtmeier, Andrea Deuschle, Nichole Huchtmeier, Amanda Lubbers, and Becky Lubbers; three great grandchildren: Keyen, Bailey and Huxley; and his beloved fur baby, Mitzie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn.
