Rita Mary Sudbeck age 93 of Bow Valley, Nebraska died on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, Nebraska with the Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Bow Valley following the mass. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 19, in Bow Valley, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning, at church, one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Send online condolences to www.wintzrayfuneralhome.com. Pallbearers will be Tim Goeden, Don Schulte, Bob Sudbeck, Dale Jansen, Melvin Jansen, and Mike Rolfes. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rosary Club and Rita’s Prayer Friends. Rita Mary was born on June 14, 1925 in Menominee, Nebraska to John and Maxalinda (Suing) Jansen. She grew up in the Menominee area and went to District 56 Country School and St Boniface in Menominee. Rita married Marvin J. Sudbeck on August 27, 1947 in Menominee, NE. They farmed just west of Bow Valley for 40 years. Rita and Marvin raised 13 children – Lois, Marty, Dona, Bill, Vicky, Kay, Rowland, Rhea, Dwight, Tom, Marlow, Geralyn, & John. Rita worked at the Golden Living Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for many years, then for M-Tron Industries in Yankton for nearly 20 years. Rita also worked for Avera Home Health Services and for the Nebraska Home for the Aging. Rita was a loving mother and grandmother, great cook and gardener, and loyal friend. She made time for everyone. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and then Holy Family. She was a member of The Chrismatic Prayer Group, Christian Mothers, Contemplative Prayer Groups, the Rosary Club, Bible Study Group, and held several hours of adoration at Holy Family Church. Rita loved the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the rosary daily. Rita also was involved with the ARC from Bloomfield and actively advocated for children with disabilities legislation. Rita was also a member of Alanon for over 30 years. Rita is survived by her 10 children and spouses, Marty (Deb) Sudbeck of Bow Valley, Dona (Gary) Clune of Lakefort, TX, Bill Sudbeck of Bow Valley, Vicky (Maurice) Koch of St. James, Kay Sudbeck of Lincoln, Rowland Sudbeck of Hartington, Rhea (Roy) Hochstein of Bennet, NE, Dwight Sudbeck of Bloomfield, Tom (Julie) Sudbeck of Yankton, Marlow Sudbeck of Hartington; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brother-in-law Warner Wong of Seattle, WA; brother Clarence (Angie) Jansen of Fordyce; two sisters Clara Rolfes of St. James, NE, Lorraine Schulte of Hartington; sister-in-law MaryAnn Jansen of Yankton, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin J. on January 16, 2009 at the age of 84 years; three children, Lois Wong, Geralyn, and John Sudbeck; sisters Angela Leise and Loretta Schulte; brothers Leonard Jansen, Martin Jansen, George Jansen, and Elmer Jansen, in-laws Orville & Shirley Sudbeck, Joe & Mary Ann Sudbeck, Ed & Lavern Goeden; several nieces and nephews, and grandson Jason Asmus.
