Richard Earl Tweedy, age 81 of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 10:30 am at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with Rev Timothy Podraza officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Crofton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Pallbearers will be 2 of his grandsons, Bryan Tweedy and Donnie Schulte. Dick was born on May 9, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Ernest Adrian and Lola Maxine (Tague) Tweedy. He grew up in Omaha and graduated from South High School in 1954. He married Kathleen Smith on June 14, 1958 in Omaha and they made their home in Omaha where Dick managed the Union Station restaurant and then was the General Manager of the Birchwood Club. In 1972 they moved to Crofton where Dick owned and operated the Sports Stop Bar for about 20 years. He was then employed at Baldwin Filters in Yankton until he retired in 2001. Dick was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He and Kathleen were volunteers at the Crofton Senior Center and he was a former marshal at the Crofton Lake View Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, fishing for catfish, watching birds in his backyard, woodworking in his shop and cooking. He was a wonderful husband, father and had a special fondness for his grandchildren. Dick is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Kathleen Tweedy of Crofton, 14 children, Rich Tweedy and Sue Lee of Omaha; Ray and Michele Tweedy of Yankton; Scott and Kay Tweedy of Castle Rock, CO; Colleen Terveer of Phoenix, AZ; Deanna and Calvin Schulte of Wynot, NE; John and Lori Tweedy of Highland Ranch, CO; Jim and Ivet Tweedy of Elkhorn, MD; Larry and Robyn Tweedy of Pierce, NE; Steve and Stacey Tweedy of Glendale, AZ; Dale Tweedy of Kearney, NE; Tom and Amy Tweedy of Oceanside, CA; Jenny and Cody Fuks of Blaine, WA; Christina and Nate Hebeisen of North Mankato, MN; and Joe Tweedy and Katie Pennell of Minneapolis, MN; 30 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with 5 great grandchildren on the way, 3 brothers, Ernie and Bonnie Tweedy of Oxford, AR; Norman and Mary Jane Tweedy of Bellevue, NE; Alan Tweedy of Omaha and a sister, Betty and Bill Schipper of Glendale, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Tim Tweedy on December 13, 2017 at the age of 48, 2 brothers, Joseph and Ray Tweedy and a sister, Lois Groseto.
