Ralph and Celesta (Gleed) Cooke. Jon’s father was a pastor and the family lived in many different places as Jon was growing up. He graduated from Magnolia High School in Anaheim, California in 1979. Jon then attended Minot State College in Minot, North Dakota where he graduated with a business degree. Jon married Pamela Foss on May 25, 1985 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1987, he received his Masters of Divinity Degree from North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls and for the next 31 years, Jon served several churches in Washington, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota. He spent the last 13 years serving in Yankton and was currently the pastor at Discovery Church. Jon had two passions in life: people and golf. As a pastor, Jon loved to connect with people and it was his mission to encourage others to follow Jesus. Jon also sought to take his ministry from the church pulpit to the fairways and greens on the golf course. While Jon’s biggest golf accomplishment was his hole in one in Coronado, California in 2006, he most cherished the friendships he formed while on the golf course. Jon is survived by his wife, Pam Cooke of Yankton; three children: Lindsey Cooke of Yankton, Caleb (Kristin) Cooke of Sioux Falls, and Courtney Cooke of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Mollie and Margo Swanstrom and Trenton Cooke; six brothers and sisters: Marietta (Mike) Heuberger of Cottonwood, Minnesota, Samuel (Cheryl) Cooke of Hugo, Minnesota, Rev. Philip (Karen) Cooke of Morgan Hill, California, Deborah, (Lyn) Rambo of Elk Grove, California, Lois (Rev. Bud) Fuchs of Saratoga Springs, Utah and Mark (Rebecca) Cooke of Galt, California; one brother-in-law, Harvey Bosch of Bismarck, North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. Jon was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sarah Joy Bosch. In lieu of flowers, Jon asked that memorials be made to Pathways Shelter for the Homeless in Yankton, South Dakota.
