Patricia “Pat” Suing, age 72, of Crofton, Nebraska, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Avera Majestic Bluffs Hospice House in Yankton, South Dakota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Monday, April 15, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton, Nebraska, with Reverend Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be at the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Crofton, Nebraska. Visitation is from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with a rosary and vigil service at 5:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family and will be used for Patricia’s requested memorials.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Patricia “Pat” Suing was born August 16, 1951, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Theodore and Cordula (Lange) Bonertz. She grew up in St. Helena, Nebraska where she attended grade school. She graduated from Wynot High School in 1969 and began working at Mtron in Yankton. She married Bob Suing on August 12, 1972, in St. Helena, Nebraska. Pat then worked for Gurney Seed and Nursery in Yankton in the finance and mail order department. After her first son, Mike was born; Pat stopped working to focus on raising her family. They raised their children on a small farm near Menominee for 25 years and were members of St. Boniface Catholic Church. After her last son Bryan was in school, Pat went back to work at Gurney’s in Yankton for a short time and then took a job with Vishay Dale Electronics. They moved to Crofton in 2001 and after working 27 years at Vishay Dale, Pat retired in 2019.
Pat loved her husband, Robert deeply. She was grateful for the support of her husband and their children through the many challenges of her illness. She would watch Mass every morning and loved her word finds and the Game Show Network. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and looked forward to family gatherings. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Ladies Guild, Christian Mothers, and the American Legion Axillary.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Suing of Crofton, Nebraska; six children: Michael (Jennifer) Suing of Menominee, Nebraska; Jeremy (Jessica) Suing of Lincoln, Nebraska; Gina (Brice) Riley of Norton, Kansas; Richard Suing of Yankton, South Dakota; Joshua Suing of Plymouth, Minnesota; and Bryan Suing of Yankton; nine grandchildren: Zack (Jessica), Lane, Elizabeth, Emily, Levi, Tyler, Alexa, Caleb and Eli; three siblings: Ruth (Loren) Bender of St. Helena, Nebraska; Roger (Mary Jo) Bonertz of St. Helena; and Jane Thelen of Fordyce, Nebraska; eight sisters-in-law: Shirley (Melvin) Heimes, Betty (Myron) Tramp, Ruth (Bob) Moore, Susan (Merle) Tramp, Julie (Owen) Spurrell, Patty (Mark) Konrad, Peggy Livingston and Karen (Dave) Edler; seven brothers-in-law: Bill (Diane) Suing, Jim (Mary) Suing, Tom (Maggie) Suing, Don (Kathy) Suing, Chuck (Carolyn) Suing, Jerome Kubal and Roger Kubal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Doug Thelen.
