Michael L. Russell

Michael Leroy Russell, age 80, of Coleridge, Nebraska died peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the home of Tammy and Timothy Jones. To accommodate the far-reaching friendships that Mike amassed throughout his life’s work and passions, at Legacy of Life Celebration will be held on August 3, 2025, at Mike and Patricia’s home in Coleridge.

Michael was born on October 22, 1943 in North Platte, Nebraska to Joseph Harold and Shirley Elaine (Dilley) Russell. He married Patricia Rea Andresen on November 23, 1994 in Coleridge, NE at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Patricia survives him in Coleridge, NE.

His family was his legacy. His pride, his three children survive him; daughter Tammy (Timothy) Jones, son Patrick (ReDonna) Russell, and daughter Amanda Russell. His greatest joy, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two step-children Craig Hively Indiana, Travis (Bridget) Hively of Yankton, SD., and four step-grandchildren; a brother Steve (Starla) Russell of Texas; and a sister Sharron (Tim) Pint of Pierce, NE.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, Shirley and Joseph Russell.
