Michael R. Henderson, age 64, of Yankton, South Dakota, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Faith Alive Church in Yankton with Pastor Jan Voelzke officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 30 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton. Pallbearers are Mason Holitza, Jack Holitza, Rob Haddock, Harry Carner, Kelly Jensen and Tom Watt. Michael was born June 9, 1954 in Yankton, South Dakota to Ray and Ardis (Hall) Henderson. He grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School in 1972. Mike then attended Metro State University in Denver, Colorado, graduating with a degree in accounting. After school, Mike worked at a CPA firm, Pyle and Associates, in Sterling, Colorado. On August 9, 1981, Mike married Billie Knapp, in Colorado Springs, CO. In 1983, Mike started his own CPA firm, M.R. Henderson & Company, P.C. In 1995, they moved their family and business to Yankton and lived in Gayville, South Dakota until 2003 when they moved into Yankton. Mike had a passion for his accounting business and loved working with his clients. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and 4 wheeling with his family. He loved the outdoors and going to their cabin in the Black Hills. He enjoyed all sports, but especially the NFL, the Denver Broncos and also his recent obsession with Fantasy Football. Michael is survived by his wife, Billie Henderson of Yankton; three children: Leanne (Matthew) Holitza of Broomfield, CO; James Henderson of Yankton and Ryan (Amelia) Henderson of Yankton; two grandchildren, Mason and Jack Holitza; his mother, Ardis Henderson of Wakonda, SD; one sister, Kelly Jansen of Yankton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
