Merlin H. Kint age 68 of Laurel, Nebraska died on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel after a brief battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Laurel with Pastor Jeffery Warner officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, at church, from 9:00 – 11:00 am. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home of Laurel.
Pallbearers will be Ron Jelinek, Chuck Sohler, Roger Haahr, Kenny Diediker, Scott Thompson, and Tim Urwiler. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dixon and Laurel Fire Departments.
Merlin Herman Kint was born on July 31, 1951 in Sioux City, IA to Kenneth (Jigs) and Margaret Kint. He grew up in Laurel and graduated from Laurel High School. After high school, Merlin worked for Laurel Feed & Grain Elevator and the Laurel Sale Barn. He also worked for Great Dane Trailers in Wayne until his illness caused him to quit.
Merlin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always enjoyed bowling and golf and was on both league teams. Merlin also loved the Nebraska Huskers, the Kansas City Royals, and the Laurel Bears.
Merlin is survived by one sister, Debra (Bob) Today of Laurel; nephews, Harvey Faith of Yankton, SD, Joshua Kint of Laurel; and nieces, Patricia Kaune & Tammy Brockman both of Wayne, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth & Margaret; sister, Karen; and niece, Cindy.
