Melissa Ann Hysell, age 52, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota, with Pastor Jan Voelzke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton Millin, Mark Millin, Austin Millin, Chris Hysell, Heath Hysell and Dale Graae Jr.

Melissa Ann Hysell was born March 10, 1972, in Oregon to Rick and Rebecca (Smith) Harman. She grew up in Hot Springs, South Dakota and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1990. She married David Millin in 1992 and together had three sons: Clinton, Mark and Austin. They moved to Sturgis, South Dakota for a few years and then to Rapid City where Melissa worked at SCI helping to build computer components. They then moved to Hermosa, South Dakota for a few years and then to Newcastle, Wyoming where she worked at a coal mine as a train car operator. In 2012, she moved to Yankton, South Dakota and worked at Vishay Dale Electronics and then at Parker Hannifin formerly Baldwin Filters. She married Chris Hysell in May 7, 2021 and began working as a receptionist for Grifols Biomat USA Plasma and Donation Center in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Melissa was a caring, welcoming, loving, woman who had a great smile and genuine love for people. She enjoyed playing video games, fishing, and her animals: Gracy Lou, Kaos, Julz and Cookie. Above all else, she loved her children and would do anything for them.

Survivors include her parents, Rick and Rebecca Harman of Rapid City, South Dakota; three brothers: Michael Harman of Oregon, Steven (Dawn) Harman of Rapid City; and Gregory (Terri) Harman of Thorton, Colorado; husband, Chris Hysell of Yankton, South Dakota; three sons: Clinton (Kylie) Millin of Box Elder, South Dakota; Mark Millin of Yankton and Austin (Cassie) Millin of Yankton; one grandson on the way; step-grandson, Aaron Promes, best friends: Jennifer Mincks and Robin Hoebelheinrich and special friends: Bill & Linda Whipple.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Debbie Harman.
