Maurice F. Becker, age 84, of Utica, South Dakota, died on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at St. Agnes Sigel Catholic Church in rural Utica, South Dakota with Reverend Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Sigel Cemetery in rural Utica. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, October 21, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 PM. Visitation continues one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Maurice Francis Becker was born March 31, 1940 in Fordyce, Nebraska to Cyril T. and Eleanor (Lammers) Becker. He grew up on the farm in Fordyce and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington, NE in 1958. Maurice then worked in construction doing primarily dirt work and later became an electrician. He married Carol Ann Robinette on July 16, 1966 and they lived in the Hartington area until they moved to a farm near Utica in 1972. Maurice worked for Bauer Electric in Yankton for around 30 years and then Thompson Electric in Sioux City, IA for over 20 years. Maurice was mainly involved in large commercial and industrial construction projects. He received his 50 year pin as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. In additional to his electrical work, Maurice loved farming and enjoyed living on the farm until they moved to Yankton in 2021. He was a very hard worker and always kept busy. He enjoyed history and reading, especially Louis L’Amour books. Maurice also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed pulling pranks on his family.

Maurice is survived by his five children: Dean Becker of Yankton; Doyle (Carolyn) Becker of Yankton; Dawn Becker of Yankton; DeAnn Becker of Yankton, and David Becker (Tessa Myers) of Utica; 10 grandchildren: Dylan (Kourtney), Connar, Brenna, Gage, Iyana, Zane, Cole, Brock, Ty and Ashtin; three great grandchildren: Beckett, Lainey and Arabella; six siblings: Leon (Marlene) Becker of Yankton, Janice (Lloyd) Sudbeck of Bow Valley, NE, Neil (Paula) Becker of Omaha, NE, Clinton Becker of Hartington, Jane (Larry) Harris of Newalla, OK and Michael (Carla) Becker of Independence, IA; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol Ann on February 2, 2024; son, Dale Becker; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Becker; granddaughter, Corrine; infant sister, Lynette; brother, Roger Becker; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
