Mary Phyllis (Schulte) Foster age 85 of South Sioux City, Nebraska and formerly of Newcastle, Nebraska died on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Private funeral services will be on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington with burial at the Calvary Cemetery in Newcastle, Nebraska with Deacon Dennis Knutson officiating. A public visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Mary Phyllis (Schulte) Foster was born on August 28, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa to Jacob Francis and Elizabeth (Richards) Day. Mary Phyllis grew up in the Newcastle, Nebraska area and went to a country school. Mary Phyllis graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington. She taught country school for a year after high school and then married George Henry Schulte on June 24, 1952 in Newcastle, Nebraska. To this union five children were born, Bill, Ken, Jolene, Carol, and Ray. Mary Phyllis lived in Jefferson, South Dakota from 1991-2004 and it was then that she babysat Carol’s children.
Mary Phyllis was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newcastle, NE. Her favorite pastime was to have her son Ray take her for drives out to the farm to see the countryside.
Mary Phyllis is survived by two sons, Bill Schulte of Sioux City, IA, Ray Schulte of Newcastle, NE; two daughters Jolene (Brian) Moes of Osmond, NE, Carol (Kelly) Curran of Jefferson, SD; 11 grandchildren Troy & Travis Schulte, Renee Sturges, Marie Olinger, Chad, Jordan & Tyler Moes, Max, Jonathan, and Jacob Curran, and Legend Schulte; twelve great grandchildren Reid, Evy, & Layne Olinger, Megan Moes, Harper Moes; Zander & Lizzie Schulte, Adam, Liam, & Camden Sturges, Grant & Jason Schulte.
Mary Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband George Schulte on November 26, 1996 at the age of 74 years; son Ken Schulte; sister Alice Ann Day (2 yrs. old); infant grandson Jason Adam Moes.
