Marvin T. Wieseler, age 93 of Wynot, Nebraska died on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Sanford Hospital in Vermillion, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:00 am at Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, Nebraska with Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be in the Sts. Philip & James Cemetery in St. James, Nebraska with military rites by the Wynot American Legion Post 31. Visitation will be on Wednesday, at church, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm with a vigil service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home of Hartington. Pallbearers will be Michael Wieseler, Jerrod Elliot, Jacoby Wright, Jerel Wright, Patrick Dysart, and Jonathan Bauer. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin’s grandchildren. Marvin Thomas Wieseler was born on March 14, 1926 in Crofton, NE to Joseph and Isabelle (Irle) Wieseler. He grew up in the Crofton area and graduated from Crofton High School in 1944. Marvin joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and was stationed in Ft. Lewis, Washington for two years. On May 6, 1952, Marvin married Rita Clara Eskens at the Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church in St. James, Nebraska. The two lived in the St. James area, where Marvin farmed. Marvin was a former member of the Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church and a current member of the Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church. He was also a former president of the Cedar Catholic School Board. Marvin was part of the Wynot American Legion Post 31 and served as commander for two years. He was a 4H leader, part of the Holy Name Society at church, and was active in the farm crisis over the years. Marvin was very sociable and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed playing baseball and loved to watch baseball games. Marvin is survived by his wife, Rita; seven children, Thomas (Vicky) Wieseler of Mt. Vernon, IA, Gary (Cindy) Wieseler of Leigh, NE, Dan Wieseler of Wynot, NE, Deanna (Larry) Bauer of McCook Lake, SD, Mary (Wayne) Elliot of Omaha, NE, Judy (Bruce) Wright of Beaumont, TX, Jan (Pete) Dysart of Richfield, MN; 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Bill Eskens of Jefferson City, MO; sister-in-law Marlene Eskens of Coleridge, NE He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Lucian; a brother Quintin Wieseler; grandson, Nicholas Wieseler.
