Lucile Blackinton, age 75, of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
No formal services are planned for Lucile and arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation in Yankton.
Lucile Ann Blackinton was born April 7, 1949 in Lynwood California. She was the second eldest of five children born to Clark and Pauline (Hannan) Blackinton. After graduating from Orange Glen High School in Escondido, California in 1967, Luci graduated from Southern California College with a teaching degree. She was a gifted teacher and enjoyed teaching elementary school for several years in California and Hawaii. She relocated to Yankton, South Dakota in 2006 to be closer to her mother, brother and his family. She dearly loved making and giving lovely handmade cards to friends and family. She had a most beautiful, contagious and endearing smile and will be greatly missed.
Luci is survived by two sisters, Lois (Jack) Green of Oceanside, California and Helen (Gary) Stephens of Montrose, Colorado; and one brother, Joe (Sheryl) Blackinton of Coos Bay, Oregon. In addition, she is survived by six nieces, three nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful, caring staff of Majestic Bluffs for their outstanding care of Luci in the last months of her life.
