Linda (Thranum) Wilcox

Linda (Thranum) Wilcox, age 76, of Yankton, South Dakota died unexpectedly on Monday, July 29, 2024 at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, on August 10, 2024 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk, Nebraska. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.

Linda was born October 6, 1947 in Scotland, South Dakota to Vernon and Dulcie (Schenkel) Thranum. She grew up on a farm near Scotland and attended Odessa No. 41 Country School. Linda graduated from Scotland High School and then received her Associates Degree from Yankton Business College. She lived and worked at several places throughout the country and settled back in Yankton in the early 1980’s. Linda married Steven Wilcox in August of 1987. She worked as the office administrator of Yankton College and also worked at Gurney’s Seed and Nursery and the First Bank Card Center until her retirement. Linda loved shopping, working with her plants and flowers, and also loved her many cats which she had throughout the years. Linda was a fun loving person who liked to have a good time. She loved visiting with people and made friends wherever she went. She will be truly missed.

Linda is survived by two daughters, Theresa Thranum of Yankton and Della (Craig Skelton) O’Connor of Arkansas; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Kathy) Thranum and Leslie (Connie) Thranum, both of Yankton; special friends and neighbors: Karen, Jim, and Pam; and several nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve Wilcox on February 11, 2014; brother, LeRoy Thranum; a nephew, Michael Thranum; and a granddaughter, Erin Thranum.
