Leone “Lee” Dutcher, age 95, of Yankton, South Dakota died on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
Funeral services are 10:30 AM, on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at United Church of Christ (Congregational) in Yankton with Reverend Gary Kimm officiating. Burial is in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton with military honors by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791 and US Navy Funeral Honors. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
Pallbearers are Marc Zweber, Brian Olsen, Dustin Dutcher, Gauge Olsen, Aaron Olsen and Scott Jepsen.
Leone was born May 1, 1923 in Wishek, North Dakota to Carl and Lydia (Lang) Eissinger. She graduated Wishek High School in 1942 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944. Lee served as a secretary at several naval bases and was honorably discharged in 1946. She moved to Yankton and met Erwin Dutcher. They were married on December 8, 1948 and then lived and farmed near Meckling, South Dakota. In 1966, they retired from farming and moved into Yankton. Lee worked as secretary for several Yankton businesses retiring at age 65. She enjoyed gardening, reading, embroidery, dancing, and traveling, especially making the annual trip to Wishek to see her family. Lee loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Lee is survived by four children: Karen (Kim) Hacecky of Yankton, Tom (Jan) Dutcher of Vermillion, SD, Sandy Dutcher of Yankton and Kevin (Jessine) Dutcher of Yankton; five grandchildren: Marc (Bridget) Zweber, Natasha (Brian) Olsen, Jesse (Erin) Hacecky, Dustin (Jessica) Dutcher, and Amy (Chris) Hofschroer; nine great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Ida (Lamont) Cass of Rapid City, SD and Laura Peterson of La Marque, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin on April 16, 2006; granddaughter, Tiffany Dutcher; five brothers: Benjamin, Arthur, Reinhold, Ervin and Marvin Eissinger; and a sister, Edna Kosanke.
