Leo “Lee” Plank, age 92, of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota. Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. The family will receive friends one hour before the memorial service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Leo “Lee” Plank was born July 19, 1927 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Howard and Tina (Paben) Plank. He grew up in the Lincoln area and then enlisted into the United States Navy when he was 17 years old to serve in World War II. He married Joyce Hacecky and moved to Yankton, South Dakota and began his career in banking. After he retired, they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas where they spent the next 30 years. They later returned to Yankton to be closer to family. Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Joyce Plank of Yankton; two sons: Doug (Tami) Plank of Gayville, South Dakota and Kyle (Denise) Plank of South Lebanon, Ohio; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Williams of Mission Hill, South Dakota; Kristen (Joe) Lemons of Monroe, South Dakota; Stephanie Plank of Denver, Colorado; and Tyler Plank of Cincinnati, Ohio; many great-grandchildren and one brother, Richard Plank of Roseville, California. He’s preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Nisich and Shirley Plank Mondragon.
