Larry A. Stark

Larry A. Stark age 76 of Laurel, Nebraska died on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Laurel with the Rev. Jeffery Warner officiating.  Burial will be at the Laurel cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to services.   Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel. Pallbearers will be Ben Stark, Brett Stark, Andrew Nieuwendorp, James Babcock, Mark Stark, and Chris Goetsch.   Larry Arnim was born October 19th, 1946, in Dixon County, NE to Arnim E. and Lila Mae (Sherman) Stark. He grew up on his parents’ farm and after graduating from Laurel High School he was trained as an auto mechanic in Omaha. He supported his family through employment in the repair shops of several car dealerships, and later through long and faithful service at MidAmerican Energy in Sioux City, IA, where he worked until his retirement. His children will remember their father as a man who worked hard to provide for his family, both on the job and during his free time. After his retirement, Larry moved back to Laurel, where he provided invaluable assistance to his parents during their final years. His sense of duty was admirable. He enjoyed spending his time gardening, cooking, traveling, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Larry is survived by his long-time, devoted companion, Rose Shain of Columbus, NE; his three children, Matthew (Amy) Stark of Boyden, IA,  Audrey (Dag Tore Mo) Stark of Oslo, Norway  and Barry Stark of Hospers, IA; his former wife and mother of his children, Barbara Stark of Hospers, IA; four grandchildren, Ben (Coral) Stark of Boyden, IA, Brett Stark of Boyden, IA, Kendra (Andrew) Nieuwendorp of Orange City, IA, and Isabel Mo of Oslo, Norway; three great-grandchildren, Stella Stark, Lee Stark, and Jack Nieuwendorp; his siblings, Dennis (Brenda) Stark of Hastings, NE, Kenneth (Jan) Stark of Laurel, NE,  and Kathleen (Bill) Rudy of Dinuba, CA. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lila Mae and Arnim “Shorty” Stark; and twin brother, Barry Stark.
