Kyle Joseph Mueller, age 28, of Crofton, Nebraska, died as the result of a car accident on Thursday, January 3, 2019.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee, Nebraska with Reverend Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery near Crofton, Nebraska. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 7, 2019, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee with a vigil service at 7:00 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton.
Pallbearers are Peyton Mueller, Alex Mueller, Mason Mueller, Cole Schmidt, Luke LaCroix, Erik Hite, TJ Harmelink, and Ryan Lammers. Honorary pallbearers are his Crofton Bluejay teammates, past and present.
Kyle Joseph Mueller was born August 5, 1990, to Joe Mueller and Dee (Diefenderfer) Lammers. He grew up in Crofton, Nebraska and graduated from Yankton High School in 2008. Kyle participated in many sports while at Yankton High School and fell in love with all of them but he especially loved playing baseball. Kyle was a hard worker and quick learner. He worked at Wilson Trailer in Yankton for a few years and just recently started his dream job as a cattle feeder for Heine Farms Feedyard. He married his longtime girlfriend, Lakyn Schmidt, on April 30, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee. Together they purchased an acreage near Crofton, Nebraska and Kyle loved being on the farm.
Kyle would make friends wherever he went and was always the life of the party. He enjoyed playing baseball for the Crofton Bluejays where his dog Ace became the unofficial mascot. Kyle was always willing to help anyone. He was a creative, handy, big hearted man who could fix about anything. He loved his family above anything else. He was the best dad and was so proud of his boys. He loved taking them hunting and spending time with them. His boys were his pride and joy and he was so excited to meet his little girl.
Survivors include his wife, Lakyn of Crofton, Nebraska; three boys: Reed, Rhet and Riggs and a little girl on the way; mother, Dee (Pat) Lammers of Hartington, Nebraska; father, Joe (Tina) Mueller of Yankton, South Dakota; two brothers: Luke LaCroix of Yankton and Peyton Mueller of Yankton; sister, Erica (Erik) Hite of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; step-brother, Ryan (Ciara) Lammers of Yankton; step-sister, Amanda (Gary Jr.) Munson of La Junta, Colorado; grandparents: Francis and LaVonne Mueller of Crofton and Terry and Linda Diefenderfer of Yankton; one nephew, three nieces and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two uncles: Tim Mueller and Todd Diefenderfer; aunt, Sheryl Mueller and infant cousins, Ivey Turbak and Layla Allen.
