Kevin Carda, age 60, of Yankton, South Dakota died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 5, 2025. This comes as huge shock to everyone who knew him, especially his family.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, on Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton with Reverend Bob Lacey officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Kevin was born June 27, 1964, in Wakonda, South Dakota to Terrence and Joyce (Krcil) Carda. He graduated from Yankton High School in 1983 and then worked at CitiBank in Sioux Falls. In 1988, Kevin moved back to Yankton and joined his father at Carda Insurance Agency. On March 28, 2003, Kevin married Vonnie (Staufer) Ingalls in Mitchell, South Dakota. Kevin continued working in the insurance agency until 2024 when he sold the business and retired. He truly cherished his clients and viewed them as family. He was a genuine “people-person” and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. Kevin was intentional about seeing the best in everyone.
Kevin found solace at the lake and the surrounding nature of Yankton. He thoroughly valued traveling with family and friends and exploring new places. His main hobby was music in various forms: collecting records, attending concerts, helping others curate their own collections and sharing his favorite songs with anyone that would listen. There was no one better at music trivia than Kevin.
A devout Christian, Kevin had unwavering faith and strong values. To describe Kevin in one word, it would be “selfless”, he prioritized the needs of others before his own. He was the glue of the family; it was the most important aspect of his life. He loved his parents, his wife, his children, his siblings and their families. There wasn’t a person or place that Kevin encountered that didn’t become a brighter with him around.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Vonnie Carda; three children: Nikolos Carda, Chase Carda, and Sydney (Creighton) Schoening; three siblings: Brian (Diane) Carda, Brett Carda and Kim (Scott) Hoffer; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and extended family members.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and son, Austin Ingalls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a charity to be selected at a later date.
