Kenneth Gene Zimmerman was born March 27, 1938 in Yankton, South Dakota to John and Elizabeth (Wulf) Zimmerman. He grew up on a farm in Knox County, Nebraska and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1956. Ken farmed with his dad until he married Connie Trenhaile on November 27, 1959. After their marriage, they farmed west of Bloomfield and had a large dairy operation. Ken was a tremendously hard worker and taught his children the value of a good days work. He loved his life on the farm and the relationships he made with area farmers. In 1996, they ended their milking operation and eventually sold their farm in 2002 and moved to Yankton. Ken was a loyal and passionate Nebraska Cornhusker fan and enjoyed fishing with his family. He was a well-respected, tender hearted man who loved his family and treasured his grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife, Connie Zimmerman of Yankton; three children: Lori Liley of Grand Blanc, MI, Robert Zimmerman of Bigfork, MN and Brian (Teresa) Zimmerman of Omaha, NE; five grandchildren: Josie and Jack Zimmerman, Caleb Zimmerman, Allissa (Daniel) Turack and Leah Zimmerman; one great granddaughter on the way, Zoey Turack; and a sister, Charlotte (LeRoy) Walter of Crofton, NE.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Woodrow Liley Jr.
