Kathleen A. Garvin

Kathleen Ann Garvin age 76 of Dixon, Nebraska died on Tuesday, November 09, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Dixon with the Rev. Jerry Connealy officiating.  Burial of her cremated remains will be at St. Ann’s cemetery in Dixon.  Visitation will be on Sunday, at church, from 3-5:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 4:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to services at the Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel, NE. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Kathleen Ann was born on January 16, 1945 in Laurel, Nebraska to Leo and Fern (Cleveland) Garvin.  She grew up in the Dixon area and attended elementary school in Dixon and graduated from Assumption Academy High School in Norfolk, Nebraska.  She went to college in Minnesota and Detroit, Michigan and received her Master’s degree in Psychology.  She devoted her life to spiritual and mental health.  Kathleen lived in New Hampshire, Boston, Lincoln, NE, Iowa City, and South Sioux City, NE.  Kathleen eventually moved back to Dixon, NE to help her sister MaryLee care for their mother Fern.  She would then move into live with Mary Lee in Dixon until her death. Kathleen was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  She loved dogs, flowers, herbs, family & friends and a good card game.  She always was up to a good prank or joke. Kathleen is survived by her sister MaryLee Jensen of Dixon, NE; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Tom (Juanita “Jenny) Garvin; brother-in-law Norman Jensen; nieces Teresa Garvin, Sharon Jensen Freeman; and nephew Monte Jensen
