Karen Donner

Karen Donner age 71 of Crofton, Nebraska died on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her residence under Hospice care.  She is the wife of David and mother of Matthew, Brian, and Tina.

Memorial services will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton with her husband David providing a time of sharing.  Burial of her cremated remains will be at the Juniata Cemetery in Juniata, NE at a later date.  The family will receive friends and family from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton.

Karen Sue was born on January 15, 1952 in Hastings, NE to Alva Oren and Ruth Esther (McKain) Vath.  She grew up in Juniata, Nebraska and graduated from Adams Central High School in 1970.  Susie worked for the Mary Lanning Hospital as a nurse’s aide.  She married David Walter Donner on October 16, 1971 in Doniphan, NE.  Susie was a stay at home mom and raised three children, Tina, Brian, and Matthew.  Susie worked for American Van Lines and for Pete & Judy’s Service Station on the west side of Crofton.  She then helped with home healthcare for the elderly in the Crofton area for over 10 years.

Susie was very active in watching and supporting the Crofton athletic programs and the Crofton Bluejays and Legion teams.  She was a member of the Crofton American Legion Auxiliary since 1990.  She loved her flowers, watching birds, and doll collecting.  She was a former Boys Scout Den mother and Cub Scout leader.

Susie is survived by her husband David of Crofton; three children Tina (Pat) Lange of Crofton, Brian Donner of Crofton, Matthew Donner of Crofton; three grandchildren Colby and Malaya Lange of Bloomfield, Madilyn Lange of Laramie, WY, Jack Lange of Crofton; two brothers Don Vath of Hastings, Robert “Bob” (Penny) Vath of Hastings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Sarah, two sisters Ruth (John) Irvine and Jean Mead; half-sisters Dolores Cavanaugh and Sharon Hanna.
