Judy A. Berteloth age 78 of Laurel, Nebraska died on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at her home in Laurel under Hospice care.
Funeral services will be on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel with the Rev. Matthew Quanbeck officiating. Burial will be at the Laurel Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Jim Lipp, Roger Pehrson, Mike Carlson, Jim Joslin, Ray Kneifl, and Dennis Berteloth.
Judith Ann was born March 1st, 1945 in Laurel, NE to Ralph and Helga (Nelson) Hinrichs. She attended rural elementary school and graduated from Laurel High School in 1963. She spent a short time working at the local Dime Store before attending Norfolk Beauty College. On July 18th, 1965 she married Merlin Eugene Berteloth and had 2 children, Cameron and Marny. Judy was a beautician at the Wayne Beauty Salon before spending the next many years helping Merlin do farm work. She eventually retired and moved with Merlin to an acreage outside of Laurel, NE where she called home for nearly 30 years.
Judy had many hobbies and passions. She studied oil painting and china painting from local artists, and enjoyed painting beautiful artwork for her family and for her own home. She was a talented seamstress and quilter, and also liked to refinish furniture. Judy had a “green thumb” and loved flowers of any kind. She was also an amazing cook and liked to experiment with recipes. During her later years, she developed an interest in photography and enjoyed taking pictures of her flowers and scenery around her home. She especially loved spending time with her family and sharing her passions with her granddaughter.
Judy is survived by her husband, Merlin Berteloth; her son Cameron Berteloth, and daughter Marny Mouw; her granddaughter Rose Mouw; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends, as well as her little dog Mindy, who held a special place in her heart.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Helga Hinrichs, and brother Don Hinrichs.
