Joyce A. Cook, age 76 of Coleridge, Nebraska died on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.
She is the wife of Lyle and mother of Robert, Ryan, and Terrill Cook.
Funeral services will be on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Coleridge with the Rev. Terry Buol officiating. Burial will be at the Coleridge City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday morning from 9:00 – 11:00 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge
Pallbearers will be Samuel Rose, Preston Rose, Mike Frerichs, Mike Heithold, Kevin Leiting, and Chris Pfeil.
Joyce Alberta was born on September 15, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa to Robert Lincoln and Charlotte Anna Mae (Berens) Peck. She graduated from Coleridge Community School in 1966 as the Valedictorian. Joyce then graduated from Wayne State College in 1970 with a teaching degree in mathematics and library science. Joyce married Lyle Lawrence Cook on November 27, 1970 in Coleridge. She taught at Laurel from 1970 – 1975, and then at Leigh, NE from 1976 – 1979. While teaching at Leigh she lived in Madison. Joyce taught at Wausa from 1979-2012. She and Lyle moved into Coleridge in 1980. In 1999 she started doing church services to fill in for local ministers. Joyce has filled in regularly at her own church – Pilgrim Congregational in Coleridge and in a dozen other churches.
She and Lyle were the parents of three sons, Robert, Ryan, and Terrill. Joyce also has two children with God. Joyce was dedicated to her family, and loved being with her grandchildren. She had a life-long dear friend in her twin sister, Jennie.
Joyce is survived by her husband Lyle of Coleridge; three sons Robert Cook of Wayne, Ryan (Danielle) Cook of Coleridge, Terrill and fiancé Kyley Krueger of Coleridge; 10 grandchildren Samuel, Katie and Preston Rose, Katelyn, Paige and Ryker Cook, Landon Lundgren, Ingrid, Eleanor, and Wesley Cook; brother Ron (Theola) Peck of Beemer, and twin sister Jennie Leiting of Plainview; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Charlotte Peck; two infants in miscarriage, brother-in-law Marlin Leiting; parents-in-law Wesley and Twila Cook as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
