Joyce Boeckman, age 90, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church in Yankton, South Dakota with Reverend Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton City Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2020, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Jacob Doering, Alyssa Jackman, Kate Doering, Mindy Doering, and Amy Doering. Joyce Lorraine Boeckman was born alongside her twin sister on May 4, 1929 in Yankton, South Dakota to Floyd and Letha (McCone) Van Epps. She grew up in Yankton, South Dakota and graduated from Yankton High School. She married Bill Doering on August 19, 1949 and to this union three sons were born: Ronald, James and Jeffrey. She married Jimmy Boeckman on November 21, 1979 in Yankton. Joyce worked in insurance for 40 years for various companies in Yankton spending most of her time at Smith Insurance until she retired at the age of 62. Joyce was a member of First United Methodist Church in Yankton. She loved playing cards and organizing. She had a great sense for business and was a very caring, loving woman who had a great sense of humor and was always worried about everyone else. Survivors include her son, Jeffrey (Carmen) Doering of Yankton; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law: Shelly (Jim) DeBoer of Yankton and Jaime Doering of Louisiana; twin sister, Jean Wildermuth of Yankton; brother, Donald Van Epps of Yankton; sister, Joanne Thomas of California; nine step children: Barb (Gary) Strivens; Bob (Roxann) Boeckman; Randy Boeckman; Rod (Lesa) Boeckman; Deb (Tom) O’Brien; Barry Boeckman; Cheryl Boeckman; Cliff Boeckman; and Marilyn (Roy) Boeckman Hull; 11 step-grandchildren; and 21 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Boeckman; two sons: Ronald Doering and James Doering; sister, Myrtle Trowbridge; and three brothers: Marvin, Leonard and William Van Epps. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, a charity of your choice, or to cancer research.
