John J. Brewer

John J. Brewer, age 65, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Monday, July 16, 2018 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. No local services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton. John J. Brewer was born April 18, 1953 in Igloo, South Dakota, to Francis and Agnes (Wood) Brewer. He grew up in South Dakota and California, graduating from Lassen High School in Susanville, California. John playing in a band for a few years and also worked as a painter, first in Napa, California, then moving to South Dakota, Colorado, Oklahoma and finally to Yankton South Dakota. John painted custom wood projects and loved creating art. He always had an appreciation for fine woodwork and artwork. He enjoyed fishing and was very crafty, even building his own guitar and bass guitar. He loved music and could make a guitar sing. Survivors include his two children: John (Lindsay) Brewer of Oklahoma and Jeni Hyatt of California; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; mother, Agnes Brewer of Yankton; two sisters: Roberta Brewer of Yankton and Lauren (Verlyn) Tieszen of Freeman, South Dakota; two brothers: Patrick Brewer of Yankton and Tyrone (Jan) Brewer of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
