John H. Leger

John H. Leger age 82 of Laurel, Nebraska died on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska due to Covid-19 compications. No Funeral Services are being planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel, NE. John Harold was born on June 8, 1938 in Kaplan, Louisiana to Gaston and Elvie (Hargrave) Leger.  He grew up in Kaplan and graduated from Kaplan High School.  After high school he joined the U.S. Airforce.  John married Claire Gail Apking on February 20, 1960 in Denver, Colorado where they lived for several years.  John worked in banking in Denver and then moved to Houston, New Orleans, and Las Vegas.  He retired from banking and real estate and then moved to Laurel in 2010.  He was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Laurel and was an usher and treasurer for the church.  John was also a member of the Laurel Veterans Post #4504 & #54.  He was always an avid reader. John is survived by his wife Claire of Laurel; son Richard (Jan) Leger of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Patricia Leger of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren Desi, Heather, Jarrett, and Cody; eight great grandchildren; sister Beverly Albert of New Orleans, LA; one niece. John was preceded in death by his parents Gaston and Elvie Leger.
