Jodie A. Denney, age 77, of Yankton, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
No local services are planned and arrangements are under the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.
Judith Ann Denney was born August 29, 1942 in LeMars, Iowa to Marvin and Marion (Meyer) Day. She grew up near Sioux City, Iowa where she attended high school. Jodie then graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Sioux City for many years until she married Gerald Denney in 1987. After their marriage, they moved to Santee, Nebraska where they raised their adopted girls. In 2007, they moved to Crofton, Nebraska and then lived in South Sioux City, Nebraska from 2013 to 2016. Jodie spent the last several years living in Yankton. She loved shopping, reading, listening to music, dancing and going for walks. She was an amazing cook and loved the company of her cats.
Jodie is survived by three children: Chad Zieman of South Sioux City, IA, Keriann Denney of Norfolk, NE and Karsen (Richard) Huber of Yankton; and three grandchildren: Aymes, Alby and Jerry.
Jodie was preceded in death by her parents.
