JoAnn E. Poppe age 87 of Crofton, Nebraska died on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Arbor Care Center in Hartington, Nebraska

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.  Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima cemetery in Crofton. Visitation will be on Sunday, at church, from 3-5:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 4:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren – Jason Drotzmann, Kelly Drotzmann, Brent Drotzmann, Travis Poppe, Cassie Mueller, Joey Tramp, Lindsay Peterson, and Megan Dreesen. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Drotzmann and Chad Poppe.    

JoAnn was born on October 31, 1935 in Crofton, Nebraska to Henry and Veronica (Feldhacker) Foxhoven. She grew up in the Constance area with her 10 siblings. JoAnn did various jobs around the area cleaning houses along with helping out on the family farm. JoAnn’s parents had both passed before she married Raymond C. Poppe, on June 8, 1955 in Constance, Nebraska. It was a double wedding ceremony with her sister Beatrice and Ray’s brother John. JoAnn was a housewife and helped Ray on the farm. JoAnn and Raymond raised four children, Arlen, Cindy, Alan, and Lori.

JoAnn was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She belonged to the Christian Mothers, Crofton American Legion Auxiliary, and years ago she was a part of a Bible study group. JoAnn’s family wishes to sincerely thank the Arbor Care Center of Hartington and the Hospice staff for taking such good care of their mom and also showing so much compassion for JoAnn and her family during her last days.

JoAnn is survived by her four children Arlen Poppe of Crofton, Cindy (Joe) Kollars of Crofton, NE, Alan (Donna) Poppe of Crofton, NE, Lori (Kevin) Tramp of Crofton, NE; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters Darlene (Konrad) Maibaum of Crofton, NE and Beatrice Poppe of Hartington, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Peggy Poppe; two grandsons Bobby Drotzmann and Chad Poppe; her siblings Roseline Gubbels, Angeline Ryan, Gerald Foxhoven, Art Foxhoven, Damien Foxhoven, Daniel Foxhoven, Joseph Foxhoven, and Henry Foxhoven.
