Jerry Lee Huber, age 70, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota.
Funeral services are 3:00 PM, on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Dani Jo Bierwagen officiating. Cremation will take place after the service and burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton at a later date. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Friday, November 15 at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation continues one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.
Pallbearers are Zach Suing, Justin Suing and Damon Kostroun. Honorary pallbearers are all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jerry was born April 12, 1954 in Yankton, South Dakota to Marvin Sr. and Shirley (Block) Huber. He grew up in Yankton, attended Yankton High School and later obtained his GED. Jerry married Mary Cuka on October 6, 1973 in Tyndall, South Dakota. After their marriage, they lived in Benson, MN for a few years and Jerry worked at TCI Manufacturing. They returned to Yankton where Jerry became a mechanic at Gregg Motors. He then worked at Riverside Station as a bartender and started his own mechanic shop called Huber’s Repair which he operated for over 35 years. Jerry also served as an EMT and was on the Volunteer Fire Department for Mission Hill. He was really a jack of all trades who would help anyone with anything they needed. Jerry loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and golfing. He was loved by many and known as Grandpa not only by his grandchildren but also all of their friends too. Jerry cherished his family and treasured the time spent with them.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary Huber of Yankton; two children, Richard Sr. (Deb) Huber of Yankton and Amy (Dunior) Reyes of Yankton; seven grandchildren: Katie (Nick) Wuebben, Brittany (Andy) Melgoza, Richard Jr. (Karsen) Huber, Tyler (Shianna) Huber, Sarah (Drian) Martinez, and Matthew and Makel McDonald; seven great grandchildren: Elliana, Arzalea, Jerry, Axel, Aubriey, Aliyah, and Judith; two sisters, Lori (David) Uhrich of Yankton and Kristi Huber of Laurel, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, Randi; brother, Marvin Huber Jr.; two sisters, Bev Schoenberner and Mary Elaine Huber; and his beloved dog, Gizmo.
