Jeanette M. Lammers age 92 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Sunday, at church, from 2-4:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Scott Arens, Nick Lammers, Jill Domina, Ray Lammers, Mason Sudbeck, Pamela Dykstra, Levi Sudbeck, and Chad Lammers.
Jeanette Mary was born on February 8, 1931 to Hugo and Anna (Wortmann) Suing in St. Helena, Nebraska. She grew up in rural St. Helena and attended rural elementary school there as well as her first two years of high school. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington in 1948. Jeanette lived in Yankton, SD for a while and moved back to the farm after her father died. She helped take care of her mother with her siblings prior to her marriage to Donavon Cyril Lammers on February 5, 1951 in St. Helena. After her marriage, she and Donavon lived outside of Fordyce, NE and then they rented a farm near Wynot. They moved to what would be their family farm south of Hartington in 1955. She and Donavon lived there until December of 1981 when they moved into Hartington. Donavon died on November 2, 1993 at the age of 64 years.
Jeanette was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and had an hour of adoration for many years. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary and the Pink Sisters Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at the Holy Trinity library and worked in the Holy Trinity school cafeteria for many years. She was also a member of the Sunnybrook Ladies Club, liked to play cards, read, crocheting and embroidery work. Jeanette always raised a huge garden and canned and froze her produce to feed her family. Jeanette always enjoyed her kids and grandchildren and attending their activities thru the years.
Jeanette is survived by her seven children Charlotte (Dale) Arens of Crofton, Ron (Karen) Lammers of Hartington, Marlene (Larry) Domina of Coleridge, Joe (Kathy) Lammers of Hartington, Terri (Sid) Sudbeck of Hadar, Peg (Marcel) Kathol of Irene, SD, Sue Lammers of Lincoln; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; three sisters Joyce Albrecht of Menominee, Margaret Ann Schmidt of Menominee, Rosemary Guenther of Crofton; sisters-in-law Phyllis Thoene of Hartington, Alice Lammers of Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, Jean Marie Lammers of Hartington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donavon; grandsons John Lammers, Curtis Domina; great grandson Spencer Lammers; three brothers Cyril (Marilyn) Suing, Henry “Hank” (Georgine) Suing, Gerald (Joan) Suing: brothers-in-law Floyd Albrecht, Stanley Schmidt, Clarence Guenther, Marcel Lammers, Thomas Lammers, and Marcus Thoene.
