Janet Claire Roeber, age 69 of Coleridge, Nebraska, died on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge with Rev. Russ Lambert officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at the Ionia Cemetery in rural Newcastle. The Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge is in charge of arrangements.
Janet was born on November 25, 1948 in Mapleton, Iowa to Lawrence Henry and Marjorie Frances (Linn) Lux. She grew up in the Ponca and Newcastle areas and graduated from the Allen high School in 1967. She married Micheal Roeber on May 19, 1973, in Elk Pont, SD. She lived in Sioux City, Allen and Dixon, NE before moving to Coleridge in 1984. She worked various jobs including IBP, farm work, house cleaning, and many years as a nursing assistant at nursing homes in Hartington, Coleridge and Norfolk. She enjoyed her hours at Bob’s Bar & Euni’s socializing while bartending. She most recently worked as a custodian at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. In 1997 she was proud to have received a Veterinary Care degree from Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE.
Janet enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, bowling, shuffle board, Indian powwows and the musical group Brule. Her favorite sport was whatever sport her grandkids were playing. She had a love for all animals and birds and always had a bag full of candy to give out.
Janet is survived by a son, Jann Roeber of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter, Heather and Jeremy Hall of Laurel, NE; 9 grandchildren, Shayla, Abigail, Bryce, Jacob, Madisyn, Kinsey, Kayton, Karlie and Jarred, her mother, Marjorie Lux of Laurel; 2 sisters, Diane Sullivan of Allen, NE; Alice and Mark Roeber of Allen; a brother, Richard Lux of Dixon, NE and a sister-in-law, Teri Lux of Sioux City, IA.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Donnie Lux, a sister, Susan Fandrich and a brother-in-law, George Sullivan.
