Janelle M. McTaggart, age 71 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Mike Grewe officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Tuesday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers will be Owen Armstrong, Eli Armstrong, William McTaggart, Charley McTaggart, Faith McTaggart, Atlee Rumbaugh, Claire Lewandowski, Bristol McTaggart, Nora McTaggart, and Zane McTaggart.
Janelle Marie was born on December 3, 1953 in Wakefield, Nebraska to Wilbur F. and Shirley M. (Paulsen) Habrock. She grew up in Emerson, NE and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1972. She attended UNL and then worked for an accounting firm in Emerson. Janelle married William Raymond McTaggart on March 1, 1974 in Emerson. She began working in the Post Office in Emerson for six years, three years in Wakefield then transferred to Hartington in 1991. Janelle was Postmaster in Hartington until she retired in 2014.
She and Bill enjoyed traveling in the wintertime. Janelle also traveled with her sisters and friends. Janelle spent a lot of time with her grandchildren, attending their games, dance performances, and other school activities. She volunteered at the Holy Trinity Youth Camp for many years, held an hour of adoration at church, and helped write petitions for the masses. Her lasting legacy for her children and grandchildren is her kindness, graciousness, and witty sense of humor.
Janelle is survived by her husband Bill of Hartington; five children and spouses Amy (James) Armstrong of Omaha, Kevin (Becky Pieper) McTaggart of Omaha, Keri (Chris) Lewandowski of Lincoln, Robert of Hartington, Anthony (Nicole) McTaggart of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; five siblings LeAnn OBrecht of Lincoln, Linda Prinz of West Point, Lorie (Glen) Meyer of Pender, Gary (Sandy) Habrock of Emerson, Jolene Koehler of Norfolk; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons Eric on 12/25/1997 at age 16, and Brian age 17 on 6/22/2004; father-in-law and mother-in-law Thomas & Catherine McTaggart.
