Irene English Lammers age 88 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Wednesday, February 09, 2022 at Avera Sister James Nursing Home in Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordyce, Nebraska with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.  Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Fordyce.  Visitation will be on Friday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, at church, one hour prior to services.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.  You may watch a livestream of the funeral at www.facebook.com/WintzRay/live Pallbearers will be Sam Brink, Phil Lammers, Mike Lammers, Tony Lammers, Pat Lammers, Greg Lammers, and Vince Lammers. Irene Luise was born on December 11, 1933 in Munich, Germany to Wilhelm Johann and Sophia Rose (Eckert) Lutzenberger.  She grew up in Munich and graduated from Luise High School in Munich.  Irene married Bernard English on July 2, 1954 in Munich, Germany.  They moved to Wood River, Nebraska in 1956 where she worked as a waitress and as a dental assistant for several years.  She received her cosmetology license then.  Irene did a lot of volunteer work at the nursing home and helped build the Senior Citizens Center in Wood River and Lincoln, NE. She was also involved in the Girl Scouting program. They moved to Lincoln, NE in 1980 and then to Omaha in 1999. Her husband Bernard died on December 24, 1999.  Irene then met Cyril Lammers and they were married on July 21, 2001 in Fordyce, NE. Irene and Cyril eventually moved into Hartington in 2012. She was a member of St. John the Baptist parish in Fordyce and the Christian Mothers. Irene is survived by her husband Cyril Lammers of Hartington; daughter Deborah Brink of Omaha; grandson Sam Brink of Omaha; three great grandchildren Lexi, Tavyn, and Greyson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard English; son-in-law Fred Brink; three brothers; and two sisters.
