Hilaria “Dickie” Gertrude Burbach, age 90 of Hartington, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Monday, April 06, 2020 at home surrounded by her nine children.
Due to the current healthcare guidelines, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Dickie on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 10:30 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with Reverend Owen Korte officiating. Private family burial will be at the St. Michael’s Cemetery in Hartington. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska. Pallbearers will be Adam Burbach, Kendra Burbach, Alan Goodenberger, Brent Albers, Austin Burbach, Christian Burbach, Deacon Burbach, Jacob Williamson, and Paige Gobel.
Dickie was born on August 4, 1929 in Crofton, NE to Joseph Charles and Theresa Bernadette (Guenther) Maly. She grew up in Crofton and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1947. Dickie received her teaching certificate and taught in various country schools in the Crofton area for eight years. On June 19, 1957, Dickie married Marlen Burbach. The two farmed west of Hartington and moved into Hartington in 1998.
Dickie was a member of the Holy Trinity Guild, Christian Mothers, and Catholic Daughters of America. She and Marlen held a perpetual hour of adoration for nearly 40 years. She was also a member of the Rose Hill Card Club.
Dickie enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, canning, playing cards, crocheting, and playing with her grandchildren, especially doing puzzles and creating playdough farms. She and Mar loved to travel to visit families and enjoyed many trips together.
She is survived by her nine children, Raleigh and Christine Burbach of Hartington, NE, David and Kim Burbach of Green Bay, WI, Marlene and Paul Goodenberger of McCook, NE, Joan and Doug Albers of Randolph, NE, Rodney and Linda Burbach of Edwardsville, IL, Dale and Vicki Burbach of Elkhorn, NE, Dean and Lisa Burbach of Hartington, NE, Diane and Mark Williamson of Lake Winnebago, MO, Linda and Keith Gobel of Lee’s Summit, MO; 35 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles and Mariellen Maly of Crofton, NE; and brother-in-law, Bernard Burbach of Norfolk, NE.
Dickie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlen on April 9, 2010 at the age of 77; an infant daughter; granddaughter, Jordyn Gobel; four sisters, Genevieve Bender, Betty Becker, Geraldine Bruening, Virginia Lange; three brothers, Dr. Jim Maly, Dr. Ron Maly, and Paul Maly.
