Henry J. Suing, age 92 of Yankton, SD and formerly of St. Helena, Nebraska died on Monday, July 01, 2019 at Avera Sister James Nursing Home in Yankton, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church in St. Helena with the Rev. An Duy Phan officiating. Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in rural St. Helena, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Friday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Richard Suing, Nic Moore, Chris Tramp, Matt Heimes, Nathan Tramp, Justin Suing, Jason Suing, Chris Suing, John Suing, and Andy Suing.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Henry’s Grandchildren.
Henry Joseph Suing was born on August 28, 1926 in St. Helena, Nebraska to Hugo and Anna (Wortmann) Suing. He grew up in the St. Helena area and attended country school and the Sisters Catholic School in St. Helena. Henry helped his parents on the farm until he married Darlene Mary Lammers on August 9, 1948 in Bow Valley. Hank and Darlene were blessed with eleven children. Hank continued to farm his entire life until into his late 70”s. Darlene died on January 12, 1984 at the age of 52 years. Henry then married Georgine M. (Varilek) Kubal on August 10, 1985 in Tyndall, SD. They moved to St. Helena in 1992 and then to Yankton, SD in 2012.
Hank was a member of Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church and served on the District 82 & 57 school boards. He was a member of the St. Helena social club, loved to hunt deer and coyotes, fishing, and playing cards. Hank loved horses and always considered himself a cowboy.
Henry J. is survived by his wife Georgine of Yankton, SD; ten children and spouses Shirley (Melvin) Heimes of Wynot, Bob (Pat) Suing of Crofton, Bill (Diane) Suing of Fordyce, Jim (Mary) Suing of St. Helena, Tom (Maggie) Suing of Fredericksburg, TX, Betty (Myron) Tramp of Crofton, Ruthie (Bob) Moore of Scotland, SD, Sue (Merle) Tramp of Crofton, Don (Kathy) Suing of Yankton, SD, Chuck & fiance Caroline Sullivan of Laurel; six step-children and spouses Jerome Kubal of Carrington, ND, Julie (Owen) Spurrell of Davis, SD, Patty (Mark) Konrad of Yankton, SD, Peggy Livingston of Pierre, SD, Karen (Dave) Edler of Yankton, Roger (Janell) Kubal of Lincoln; 65 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; four sisters Jeanette Lammers, Joyce Albrecht, Margaret Schmidt, Rosemary Guenther; sisters-in-law Marilyn Suing, Joan Suing; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Margaret (Jim) Kniffen, Marce (Steve) Wold, Rosemary (Leroy) Bender, Mary Jo Bauder, Joe (Teri) Varilek.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Darlene Suing; daughter Mary Suing; daughter-in-law Cindy Suing (Chuck’s wife); granddaughter Amy Suing; great grandsons Kaleb Heimes and Gerald Osborn; two brothers Cyril and Gerald Suing; six brothers-in-law Donovan Lammers, Floyd Albrecht, Stanley Schmidt, Clarence Guenther, and Jim Varilek, and Edmund Bauder.
