Helen M. Koletzky

Helen M. Koletzky, age 81, of Yankton, South Dakota, went to her heavenly Father on Monday, December 24, 2018 at Avera Sr. James Care Center in Yankton. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Anthony Urban officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Daniel Koletzky, Christopher Koletzky, Dustin Koletzky, Lukus Stucky, John Koletzky, Timothy Koletzky, and Joshua Stucky. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Kylie Oster, Katie Koletzky and Sarah Vanorny. Helen M. Koletzky was born January 1, 1937, in Lesterville, South Dakota, to Emil and Marie (Bouska) Cabalka. She grew up on the farm near Lesterville and attended school at St. Wenceslaus School in Tabor, South Dakota. She married Donald Koletzky on November 21, 1955, in Tabor. They then moved to their farm near Tabor where Helen raised her family. She also worked part-time in the café at both stockyards in Yankton. When her health started failing, she lived with her daughter, Deb and son-in-law Ken for several years. In 2008, Helen became a resident of Avera Sr. James Care Center in Yankton. She received wonderful care at Sr. James and was grateful for all of her caregivers that she had over the 10 years she was a resident. Helen was a member of the Yankton Rodeo Association, Yankton Saddle Club, The Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, playing the organ, watching westerns and other movies, but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She would even tutor her grandkids to help them excel in academics and loved keeping track of all of their accomplishments in scrapbooks she kept for them. Survivors include her four children: James Koletzky of Yankton; Ronald Koletzky of Tabor; David (Cheryl) Koletzky of Yankton and Deb (Kenneth) Stucky of Yankton; 10 grandchildren: Kylie (Colin) Oster, Katie Koletzky, Daniel Koletzky, Dustin (Sheri) Koletzky, Christopher (Savannah) Koletzky, Sarah (Jeff) Vanorny, John (Chade) Koletzky, Timothy (Jaime) Koletzky, Lukus (Kayla) Stucky and Joshua (Amanda) Stucky; 16 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Janene Cabalka of Yankton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald on November 12, 1990; grandson, Ronald L. Koletzky Jr.; and brother Laddie Cabalka.
