Harold J. “Ole” Olson, age 76, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at the Human Services Center in Yankton.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota with a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Reverend Steve Weispfennig officiating.
Harold J. “Ole” Olson was born March 12, 1943, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Oscar and Dorothy (Domogalski) Olson. He grew up on the farm and attended country school in the Utica area. He then enlisted into the United States Army and served his country until returning to Yankton. He married Linda Ames in 1965 and began working for Yankton County. He worked for the county for a few years until taking a job with Gehl Manufacturing in Yankton, which he continued until his retirement. He married Jayne Furby on April 24, 1987.
Harold was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yankton. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. He loved his family and was a caring husband to Jayne, taking care of her through her illness. He will be remembered for his strong handshake and his faith in Jesus.
Survivors include his two sons: James and A.J. Olson both of Yankton, South Dakota; two daughters: Lorri (Jay) Nooney of Greeley, Colorado and Kerri Masten of Yankton; two grandchildren: Collin Olson and Maddy Nooney; step-daughter, Dwan Eckstrom of Brainerd, Minnesota; two step-grandchildren: Chasidy and Brady Greenwaldt; brother, Larry (Peggy) Olson of Yankton and sister, Connie Bitsos of Yankton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jayne Olson; two grandchildren: Cody and Kasey; and sister, Arlene Taggert.
