Hans Randall Jorgensen, age 82 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at his residence.
Due to the current healthcare restrictions a graveside service will be planned for a later date. Burial of his cremated remains will be at the Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Coleridge, Nebraska. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Hans Randall was born on January 14, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa to Hans Peter and Clara (Frerichs) Jorgensen. He grew up in Coleridge and attended Coleridge High School. Hans joined the U.S. Army and served from July 10, 1956 – July 9, 1958. He returned to Coleridge and married Deanna Lee Stallbaum on November 6, 1962 in Coleridge. They lived in Sioux City, Iowa where he worked for Iowa Beef prior to moving to California and Arizona. Hans and Deanna moved back to a farm next to his parent’s farm until he eventually bought his parents farm after his dad died. He raised crops and had Dairy Cows as well. Deanna died on April 17, 1976 at the age of 32 years due to a car accident. Hans then married Carol Lanean Berge on October 23, 1982 in Coleridge. Hans continued to farm and also worked at Bomgaar’s, Waldbuam’s, Gurney’s Seed and Nursery, and also at the Laurel Elevator. When Han’s three daughters were young he went to GI school at night.
Hans was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington. He could fix anything as long as he had his trusty plyers and bailing wire! A trait that even was passed on to his daughters! He enjoyed gardening, fishing, going to antique stores, and helping Carol with her furniture projects. Hans always had a sense of humor and loved to visit with people.
Hans is survived by his wife Carol of Hartington; three daughters Sherrie (Allen Joe) Barnes of Irene, SD, Kristie Kay Borer of Norfolk, NE, Tammie Rane Dickes of Hartington; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Clara Jorgensen; wife Deanna; two brothers Darrell and Dallas (Olga) Jorgensen; and four infant siblings.
